Overview of Fluent in Finance

Fluent in Finance approaches learning from many different angles.

Blue tutorial icon  Tutorials introduce new financial concepts and explain them. Especially important topics include “Finance Films.” Finance Films are multimedia presentations in which you can explore concepts visually and interactively.

Red case study icon  Case Studies are your opportunities to apply your newly learned financial concepts. A multimedia presentation at the beginning of a chapter introduces a business scenario — a business and a business problem. Your mission is to solve the business problem with the tools you gather over the course of the chapter. Then, at the end of the chapter, you analyze data, apply your financial acumen, and document your analysis. You can compare your analysis against a model solution at the very end of the chapter.

Yellow case study icon  Practice makes perfect. Exercises allow you to practice new skills and test your knowledge before you try your hand at the more complex and nuanced case studies. At the end of exercises sets, there are “Optional Exercises” that invite you to answer some more advanced questions through independent research and study.

Some pages may offer links to Sidebars. Sidebars cover topics that are relevant to the topic at hand, but are not essential to your overall learning experience. They point to the larger world of business and economics to which our financial concepts connect.

At the end of the course, you will be invited to complete a survey about your experience. If you complete the online survey and a short phone interview, you will receive discounted access to any of the advanced editions of Fluent in Finance.
